Give you child a Head Start by maximising their learning and physical potential

Children need to move to stimulate both their body and their brain. Studies show that the first five years of a child's life are crucial for later health and wellbeing. Research also shows children are spending less time moving in their early years resulting in problems with motor development, cognition and health.Head Start was developed by Anna Baker (Occupational Therapist), Mark Shirley and Lizz Carrington (Physiotherapists) in response to this trend and will show you how you can make the most of these crucial years to give your child a HEAD START.

Parents attend 45 minute classes alongside their child and participate in a variety of activities to develop foundational movement, cognition and language skills; the building blocks for future formal learning, sport, self-confidence and esteem. Each class includes activity suggestions for you to complete with your child at home. Class numbers are limited to allow individual attention.

The cost to attend the HEADSTART programme is only $65 per term.

HEAD START is located at the RATA south headquarters in South Road, Caversham, Dunedin (A on the map) . We have on site carparking and if that is full there is plenty of parking on the street.

Testimonials

"Headstart is such a great program. I recommend it to everyone. It has helped Arlea with her confidence in climbing and being independent. It has given Arlea time to learn new things without the older brother doing it for her. She can match toys to pictures and loves to post things. Every Tuesday when we say we are going to headstart she gets so excited."
